Running Wild is one of the greatest bands I've heard and it truly is a shame that it will be no more. I've come to Wacken from Croatia mainly to see RW first and last time before they lower the Jolly Roger. Hopefully you will change your mind and set sail once more!

Hi’ Rolf and Running Wild
I want to thank you and the whole band for the music and all the great records what Running Wild have done all these years.
My first Running wild album was the VICTORY, and I remember that day when I went straight at home and I put the cd on my player, and BANG (like cannonball)! That day I knew I will always be a Running Wild fan and proud of it. And know I got all the running wild cd’s. And I have to say every time I listen to Running Wild I get so much good energy in my life, you know what I mean. I like the Running Wild attitude! So once again BIG THANK YOU ROLF AND RUNNING WILD. I wish you guys all the best.
Yours sincerely

Thanks Rolf and Running Wild and thanks Jens for running this website since so many years, a harbour for fans like me. Without this homepage and your ambitious work Running Wild might have been forgotten since long already. Especially thanks to all past members of the band, because you made it happen, that our Captain could have gone on.
Thanks for many years of great music and entertainment!

I just found this picture on the Running Wild official website, what an honnor to be on it ! (i'm the guy holding the rolly roger with black long hair in first row anyway)
I will take a few words to thank Rolf for all that he's done for us. I Know we're thousands fans around the world, who will never forget Running Wild, personnally it's my favourite band. Rolf never followed any musical trends, always delivering us the greatest heavy metal on earth. So Thank you for those 13 albums of pure magic.

Just dropping by to say a warm thank you for all the good times and memories listening to your illustrous musical carreer. I will always remember the first Running Wild album that I bought: Pile of Skull! I was blown away, and I bought the previous albums in hurry. I will always remember the only time that I've got to see you live in Balingen in 2000. It was a first time for me in Europe since I'm from Quebec, Canada!
Thanks again for all Rolf,
We'll miss your music,

I'm very very sad...
Why?, Why Running Wild say good bye?
Believe me when I say that I amost cry when I see the notice...
I'm from Bogotá, Colombia; my name is David Alejandro Gómez Sanabria, and I'm a really really fan of Running Wild, I want all original albums but in my country is very hard to find, I just have the "Blazon Stone" album (one of the fucking best albums in the history of Heavy Metal)...
But I listen first the "Death Or Glory" album, and I fall in love with the band, specially when I listen Marooned (also Bad To The Bone, Tortuga Bay, Highland Glory (The Eternal Fight) and RIDING THE STORM ), I could say that this is the best album of history of Metal, and Running Wild, but you have more jewels...
Then I listen the "Port Royal" album, and when I listen Calico Jack, I say exactly: "This song have so much power and force", and you become to be my favorite band.
Then I listen all your discography (including some rare Demos like live demo recorded in 1983 or the first demo recording in 1981, or the rare Single "Sinister Eyes", there is one of my favorites songs: Skulldozer); and I begin to follow your steps, but unfortunately I meet you too late.
I have 17 years old, am nobody, but I love so much the band, 2 years ago I meet you, and you, only you open my eyes to the music... You revolutionized my way to see Heavy Metal music, and I have to say you THANK YOU for that...
My favorite music is Heavy Metal, but I have a Thrash Metal band called Burning, we like so much Running Wild, and we have "Victim Of States Power" cover song... I just dream with show you that song played by us, by an humble band from Colombia, I dream with make to you a Tribute, with dedicate to you a song, I promise you that I will write a song for you Running Wild, for the best band of Heavy Metal in the World...
Too bad that you never came to Colombia, but you will live forever in me, in my music, because you show me the real music, you give me the chance to create melodies and lirycs to my band, you make me a real MetalHead...

Running Wild have made some of the most powerful heavy metal I've ever heard in the 20 years I've been listening to it! Nobody who has seen them live or heard one of their albums at full volume could possibly doubt their greatness... Long live Jolly Roger!!

From the late 80's till now...a humble thank you for the many hours of listening and dreaming, a better life in a better world.
Two decades till now and the fire still burns.
My top memories are when I watched the band live back from 2004 and far back from 1989 in Greece.
Sad that Wacken is far for me. Although the DVD release wil still refresh my memories.

Running Wild is one of the few bands whose every album is excellent. There is no fillers (nor ballads), just top quality heavy metal. It will be surely missed on the metal scene.
Thanks for the music, Rolf. I hope you return in the future with more Running Wild material.

Hi Rolf,
I am from Brazil and travelled to Germany only to be at the WOA and see the last RW concert. For me it was a privilege to be there!!! I've been following RW's carreer since I was a kid, back in 1984, and it was a unique experience to watch you guys playing songs that were part of my life in the last 25 years. Thank you so much and I really hope someday you raise the flag back again! Cheers from Brazil!!!

Running Wild will live on in our hearts. The music has always been great and I will never stop listening to it.
Death Or Glory was the first LP ever I bought and has a special meaning to me. I hope RUNNING WILD will come back with a new CD at some time in the future.
The spirit lives on !!!!

I still remember the way I felt when I was first listening to "Riding the storm" on the sofa of a friend of mine: overwhelmed by the fantastic melodies and drunken by the amazing riffs. This feeling hadn´t change since that day and I´m sure it will last. The power of your songs will still work, also for future generations.
Thanks for the love, energy and honesty you put into your music.
With best regards,

Just to echo what has been said by so many other loyal Running Wild fans, it was a very sad day when we found out it was coming to an end for Running Wild, but not forgetting the incredible music that you have left us with Rolf, I was lucky to discover Running Wild in the late eighty's by blindly buying (I had not know of the band previously!) a live recording cassette "Ready For Boarding", I was sold straight away and have been a fan every since, collecting all the albums and whatever else I can. You have left us with great memories and fantastic music that will never grow old, be replaced or go away, Running Wild were one of a kind, as I dont know any band who played similar music (apart from X-wild who learned from you anyway!), So thank you for your major input into the metal scene, gone... but not forgotten...

Tally Ho Rolf,
See you in Port Royal,

I discovered Running Wild about a year ago and there are still some albums I'm not familiar with, but when I first heard your music I knew it was something extraordinary. Time shall tell if there is ever going to be a chance of Running Wild reuniting, but I wish you luck with your other bands and projects anyway.
Cheers

One might argue that heavy metal is the musical equivalent of pirates, - that is to say the most badass genre of them all.
And indeed, heavy metal alongside pirates turned out to be one Hell of a combo.
Rolf Kasparek, not only did you invent pirate metal. You played it with headstrong dedication and tenacity, surviving numerous fashions and never giving a bilge rats ass about the trends in contemporary mainstream rock and metal music.
Words cannot express my admiration towards you and what you've accomplished with this great band. To me, Running Wild is right up there in the same league as Sabbath, Maiden, AC/DC, Priest and Manowar. Your songs will live with us forever, and your love and commitment towards your band and the genre of Metal states as an example to anyone with a purpose in life.
And as much as I was saddened by the disbandment of Running Wild, just as lucky do I consider myself to be for getting to see you just that one glorious night at Wacken.
Much sincere and profound respect from a Danish rebel at heart,
Andreas Kielland, Copenhagen DK |
